The Ice Vault will be hosting the US National Bantam Championships April 7-11, 2010 and we need your help.  48 teams from around the country, including the Bandit Bantam AA team will be competing.  We are looking for volunteers to help make this event a success. If you or anyone you know can help out in any of the committees listed below, please complete this form and return it to the Ice Vault.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Coordinators, Bob or Nancy Camponenosi at campos@icevault.com.  This is a brief description of the areas volunteers will be needed:

·         Opening ceremonies; Held at William Paterson University. We will need hosts, ushers and general liaisons.

·         Floyd Hall; the number of teams and games will require  games to be played at Floyd Hall Monday thru Friday (April 5-9).  We will need volunteers to work this venue. 

·         Welcoming committee; both parents and hockey players over the age of 12 who would be willing to greet teams as they arrive and escort them to the assigned locker rooms.  This group would also put together gift bags for the visiting teams.

·         Retail committee; the arcade at the Ice Vault is going to be the retail location for the event merchandise.  We will need volunteers to help stock and manage this store throughout the week, as well as helping customers with sales.

·         Food and Beverage committee;  volunteers will be needed to help with the restaurant, and with food service to the party rooms, where USA hockey officials and VIP’s will be fed.  In addition, there will be a food tent and beer garden in front of the rink that will need additional staff. 

·         Entertainment/music committee:  This group would find local bands and disc jockey to provide music in the afternoons and evenings in front of the rink, in addition to carnival-type booths (games/food etc.).  Also we need to put together a list of songs representing each State that is sending a team (think “California Girls”,” New York, New York”) to be played as the team takes the ice.

·         Security and ticketing committee:   this group will provide some extra security in the rinks, will check tickets at the doors, check for ID in the beer garden, and will work with the local Police Departments and EMT’s as necessary.

·         Township liaison committee:  will work with Wayne Township to secure necessary permits, and to work out traffic, parking and signage issues.

·         Scorekeepers/timekeepers and music during the games.

Congrats NJ Bandits Peewee B team on winning the Thanksgiving Shootout Tournement 3-2 over the Priceton Tigers outscoring the oposition 22-4!!

The Ice Vault and the Bandits will be hosting a B thanksgiving tournament again this year.

The New Jersey Bandits will be the host team for the 2009-10 and will have a Bantam AA team compete in the tournament.

The Bandit Peewee B Red team came away with the District Championship!  This is the first district championship for a Bandit team at any level/division.  The games were played from March 6 to the 8th in Philadelphia, PA.  The Bandits had to play the Hershey Jr. Bears, the Youth Flyers and the Glaciers from PA to gain this championship. 

This has been a very gratifying season for the team, parents/ friends/family, as well as the Bandit organization. 

Congratulations to all of the Players and Coaches for completing a perfect season, this unbelievable ride has come to an end.

Team with their Atlantic District Championship medals

After squeezing by their division opponents - The Colonials 3 to 2 in the semi finals on 2/13, they got to face the Flyers Youth for the championship of the NJYHL Peewee B division on 2/14.  The Flyers Youth beat the Freeze 7 to 3 in their semi final game to advance to the finals.  This game was between the top two teams during the regular season.  Bandits had no losses, the Flyers Youth had only one.

In the championship game, after the Flyers Youth tied the game at 1, the Bandits shut down the bigger Flyers.  The Bandits scored the last 5 goals, and won the game 6 to 1.  They had 6 different scorers, and they played Bandit defense.  They swarmed on defense, and back checked to keep the Flyers with no shots on their goalie in the last period.

The next challenge will be the Districts in Philadelphia in early March.

The teams will travel to the Silver Stick Finals located in Sarnia, Ontario (for Squirt A) and Port Huron, Michigan (for PeeWee A and Bantam A) in January 2009.
